Dr. Patel’s career began in a traditional internal medicine practice and was comprised of office hours, hospital rounding and venturing into skilled nursing facilities. Within 2 years he realized that his passion was for post-acute and long-term care. He then went on to build a practice with a focus on skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities. During this time Dr. Patel also became medical director at various facilities and found that with the right mindset and approach to care in nursing homes, patients could indeed thrive. In his continued commitment to learning and to serving this patient population, Dr Patel became an engaged member of AMDA, the American Medical Director Association, and eventually received his CMD (Certified Medical Director) credentials.

As a result of his many years of experience as a Medical Director at various skilled nursing facilities, Dr. Patel has developed the unique understanding and expertise required to achieve superior outcomes. He leverages the power of a truly integrated approach to patient care and engages with facilities to improve quality metrics. Through education, mentorship and empowerment Dr. Patel leads a team of highly skilled primary care clinicians dedicated to caring for patients in the post-acute and long-term care setting. Together, they are committed to providing the very best in medical directorship, clinical care, facility engagement, and healthcare value.

As an advisor for healthcare innovators, Dr. Byrne leverages my extensive clinical, entrepreneurial, and leadership experience to help shape the future of healthcare. She currently advises Wovenly, PsychNow, and Overstory Health, three companies that are transforming the delivery and quality of mental health care through technology, data, and collaboration. Dr. Byrne was a Co-Founder of Belong Health, a made-for-purpose healthcare company that serves vulnerable populations through health plan partnerships and ACO-REACH.

Dr. Byrne’s mission is to connect the dots between people and ideas in new and unexpected ways, and to translate complex concepts and challenges into actionable solutions. She has a dual background as an MD/PhD in neuroscience and a board-certified psychiatrist, which gives her a unique perspective on the biological and psychological aspects of human behavior and health.

She has a proven track record as an entrepreneur, having founded and grown a clinical organization from inception to exit, and as a national C-level leader, having led teams to create and innovate clinical programs in various settings.

As a thought leader in the healthcare community, she speaks on podcasts, webinars, and live events. She is a best-selling author of “Work Smart”, a book on how to use brain and behavior science to work smarter. Her second book, “Moral Injury : Healing the Healers” focuses on the clinician crisis facing the American healthcare system today.

Dr. Grumet’s heart lies in Family Medicine because she feels it sees a person’s health in the context of family, social and economic realities. Her practice has been caring for the elderly for the last 13 1/2 years, and is particularly proud of how much she has learned.

A Clinician Scientist and Physician, Dr. Grumet has specialty training and experience in Palliative and Hospice Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health.

Dr. Grumet serves as Chief Medical Director of Assisted Living Medicine for Eventus WholeHealth and looks forward to many years of serving Eventus clinicians, communities, and patients.

As a dedicated Long-Term Care Physician, Dr. Dirk Juschka, best known as simply “Dr. Dirk” stands at the forefront of compassionate and comprehensive healthcare. With a passion for geriatric medicine and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for older adults, Dr. Dirk brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the realm of long-term care.

Background: Dr. Dirk completed medical school at the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada, and pursued family practice with increasing focus on geriatrics over the years.  This extensive educational journey laid the foundation for a career devoted to the unique healthcare needs of the elderly.

Professional Experience: With more than forty years of experience in the field, Dr. Dirk has become a trusted healthcare provider in the long-term care community. Having served in various capacities, from nursing homes to assisted living facilities, Dr. Dirk has honed a holistic approach that prioritizes both physical and emotional well-being.

Patient-Centered Approach: Known for a patient-centered approach, Dr. Dirk believes in fostering strong doctor-patient relationships. By actively listening to the concerns and aspirations of older adults, Dr. Dirk tailors care plans that address individual needs and promote a sense of dignity and independence.  His own journey with both parents passing in nursing homes due to Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia, gives Dr. Dirk a unique personal perspective of patients in long term care.

Advocacy and Research: Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Dirk is passionate about advocacy and research in geriatric medicine. Actively participating in initiatives aimed at improving long-term care standards, Dr. Dirk strives to contribute to the evolving landscape of elderly healthcare.

Community Engagement: By sharing knowledge and insights, Dr. Dirk empowers families and caregivers to make informed decisions regarding the well-being of their loved ones.

Personal Touch: Outside of the medical realm, Dr. Dirk enjoys spending time with his children and new grand baby, finding a personal connection with patients through shared interests and experiences. Dr. R. Steven McDonald, DO, MSMI, is leading our organization into a future where healthcare meets cutting-edge technology. Dr. McDonald interests lie where innovation meets compassionate patient care specifically in long term care.

As our CIIO, Dr. McDonald spearheads strategic technology initiatives, ensuring our organization remains at the forefront of innovation. His visionary leadership empowers us to harness the power of data and emerging technologies to enhance patient care, streamline operations, and achieve unprecedented efficiencies. Dr. McDonald is dedicated to optimizing the use of medical information. Dr McDonald earned his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University before pursuing his DO from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr McDonald rounded out his educational journey with a Masters in Medical Informatics from Northwestern University.

Dr. Williams is a geriatric psychiatrist with more than 20 years of experience and earned his medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Founder and CEO of Geriatric Neuropsychiatry Services PLLC, Dr. Williams developed a successful practice providing psychiatric services to people residing in long-term care communities throughout North Carolina. With expertise in Alzheimer’s Disease, Lewy Body Dementia (LBD), Cerebellar Degeneration and Susac Syndrome, Dr. Williams and his team of providers were a great addition to the Eventus team when he merged his organization into Eventus in 2020.

As Director of Geriatric Psychiatry, Dr. Williams ensures all providers are thoroughly trained to deliver consistent care to produce the best possible outcomes.

Dr. Levine earned his PhD in Psychology and Organizational Development from Pennsylvania State University. His diverse career includes leading Psychology and Deafness Services for the State of North Carolina to Director of Human Resource Organizational Development at GlaxoSmithKline, to designing a program teaching up and coming chefs at the New England Culinary institute people management skills and ultimately to Eventus WholeHealth as a leader of mental health services and psychotherapy as well as being one of the Founders of the Company. Most recently Dr. Levine has applied his experience and interest to leading Eventus’ participation in clinical trials focused on a drug that is designed to reverse some of the symptoms of Alzheimer’s.

Dr. Levine is committed as well to helping make Eventus the employer of choice, building a culture of collaboration, support and professionalism. Dr. Levine takes pride in his ability to coach therapists on strategies for achieving optimal outcomes with patients. He shares his expertise and proven techniques regularly with Eventus psychotherapy providers to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved for all Eventus patients.

Laura Hardcastle is a nurse practitioner who has specialized in both family medicine and psychiatric mental health. As a PMHNP Laura is trained in both medication management and psychotherapy and has applied her education and experience to providing care to the elderly for many years and has been a clinical leader on the Eventus team since 2014.

With a passion for delivering great care, Laura is utilizing her expertise and strong organizational skills to lead the clinical operations for the Southeast Region of Eventus. In addition, Laura is ensuring the entire Eventus organization is following Eventus proprietary mental health services best practices to ensure achievement of optimal outcomes.

Monica Leriger is a Board-Certified Geriatric Pharmacist who helps prescribers assess drug safety and minimize adverse outcomes. Monica has worked for 20 years in long-term care as an educator of antibiotic stewardship and deprescribing. She is an adjunct faculty at Butler University where she precepts PharmD candidates in geriatrics with an emphasis in psychotropics, antibiotic stewardship, and polypharmacy. After successfully leading her facilities through COVID treatments, Monica has turned her focus to raising awareness of medications negatively impacting CMS quality measures.

Monica enjoys travels throughout the United States, visiting forty-eight states with her family, and looks forward to more international travel after reach state #50.

Barbara Pereira, RPh is a seasoned Clinical Pharmacist with over 23 years of dedicated experience in the post-acute space. After receiving her pharmacy degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1989, her career has spanned from roles as an independent pharmacy owner, a Consultant Pharmacist and Clinical Manager for a large national long-term care pharmacy provider, to most recently holding an executive leadership role where she pioneered the development and implementation of a medication optimization and deprescribing program for a post-acute physicians practice across the country. Her career trajectory has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of the CMS regulations and survey procedures that govern our industry.

One of Barbara’s passions is addressing the complex nature of geriatric medication therapy and reducing the prevalence of polypharmacy in this population. Her mission revolves around educating both providers and clients on potential pitfalls and, more crucially, the available solutions to this widespread industry issue. Barbara is an integral part of the educational initiatives at Premier Geriatric Solutions, collaborating on clinical projects and outcomes-based activities with our leadership team.

Barbara currently resides in Dartmouth, MA with her husband of 33 years, Roy. They have two grown children, Jacob and Rachel, who are out on their own and living their best lives. In her free time, Barbara enjoys hiking or walking at the beach, exploring new dining options, traveling, and particularly looks forward to her annual trips to Portugal to visit with her in-laws.

Dr. King founded Onsite Care NC, now Eventus WholeHealth, in December 2014 to address the healthcare needs of the underserved community of long-term care patients and residents. Since the founding, Dr. King has led the company to become a market leader in providing multidisciplinary physician services to the long-term care community by delivering the only system of truly integrated care. In his board member role, Dr. King is the chairman of the M&A committee.

Since his graduation from the UNC MAHEC Residency Program in 1999, Dr. King has balanced his professional career between family medicine and business. From 1999 to 2007, Dr. King was Founder, President, and CEO of Laurel Park Medical Center, where his passion for wellness, prevention, and love of a multidisciplinary approach to patient care was fully expressed. During this time Dr. King also played an integral role in the development, acquisition, and sales of the Laurel Park Medical Center, owned and operated by Park Ridge Hospital. Dr. King has also worked with three large Department of Defense Contractors as a Medical Consultant, and from 2011 to 2013 he was acting CEO and Managing Partner of MPN, a medical group consisting of nine physicians and several PHDs.

Dr. King received his undergraduate degree in accounting and then completed his pre-med studies at George Mason University. He earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine, with a specialty in Family Practice, from KCOM.

Dr. Rucci is a nationally recognized Psychiatrist who specializes in the study, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders in the geriatric population. Dr. Rucci has built a foundation of knowledge from large hospital systems, community mental health, emergency services, and academic settings.

In 2010 she found her passion in the underserved long-term care population who had little access to quality mental health services. In order to expand access, she developed a program to advance the future of psychiatric services in this population through a team of highly trained specialist providers. She then worked toward integrating these mental health services with high quality on site primary care services and other medical specialties, creating the first of its kind integrated healthcare model in the long term care population. Dr. Rucci and her expansive team are dedicated to producing measurable outcomes only achieved through the implementation of a truly integrated patient care system.

Dr. Rucci earned her undergraduate degree from the College of New Jersey and then went on to study medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School where she earned her M.D. Her internship and residency were completed at the University of Colorado, where she focused on geriatric interests and served as chief resident. As part of her dedication to educating and training new care providers, Dr. Rucci is Associate Clinical Faculty and educator for Garner–Webb University, University of North Carolina, and Campbell University. She has authored works on dementia in gold standard textbooks used to educate the next generation of psychiatrists.

As Chief Value Officer, Mike manages the team that provides exceptional support to Eventus providers and patients. Mike brings significant strategic and operational experience at accelerating the mission of an organization. Throughout his career, Mike has transformed information and data into actionable insights and operational plans. Mike is an inclusive leader who seeks dissenting opinions before decisively aligning the organization and driving disciplined execution. Mike fosters a culture of “learning together, continuously” as the key to not only to sustaining, but also extending competitive advantage.

As an executive at Sagent Lending Technologies and Clarivate Analytics, Mike led key strategic initiatives such as M&A transactions, organic growth investments, and operational process improvements. At Sagent, Mike integrated the company’s first acquisition, ISGN, by aligning cultures and strategies of the two organizations. Mike managed the transaction that resulted in Clarivate becoming a publicly traded company on the NYSE. Prior to that, Mike spent a decade at financial firms where he analyzed economic and market data and advised clients on strategies to optimize capital allocation and M&A transactions. Mike earned his M.B.A. from The Wharton School and his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University.

Brooke Ritchie is the Senior Vice President of Business Develop at Eventus. She is a dynamic sales and operational leader with over 27 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Brooke is known for driving remarkable growth and success in national and regional post-acute care companies. Her journey embodies a passion for excellence in sales leadership alongside a commitment to compassionate nursing.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Brooke finds joy in family, the solace of a good book, and the adventures of travel, balancing her roles as a devoted mother and an avid explorer.

As a proven sales and operational leader, Brooke strategically steers companies toward unparalleled success. Her methodical and innovative approach has shaped person-centered, customer-centric solutions that not only drive growth but also elevate standards within the industry.

Jeff Wells is the Chief Compliance and Risk Officer at Eventus WholeHealth. Jeff leads the Eventus Compliance Department and is responsible for overseeing the compliance program and risk management function. Jeff also serves as the Eventus Privacy Officer. Jeff assists the Eventus leadership team, healthcare providers, and support staff to ensure the company maintains its robust culture of compliance.

Prior to joining Eventus, Jeff served as the Chief Compliance Officer for two different large outpatient rehabilitation companies and was responsible for leading the development, implementation, guidance, and administration of the compliance and privacy functions at those companies.

Jeff earned his BA from Fairfield University and his law degree from Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where he graduated magna cum laude.  Jeff is also certified in healthcare compliance through the Health Care Compliance Association and is a certified officer of healthcare compliance through the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance.

Dr. Sampson has a background in teaching, research, and clinical practice at The University of North Carolina, the Durham VA Medical Center, Duke University Medical Center, and private practice. He has interests in anxiety, trauma, sleep, relationship distress, and geriatrics.

After training and working in the multidisciplinary environment of the VA, Dr. Sampson spent 13 years teaching undergraduates at UNC and doing clinical work in private practice. Since November 2012 Dr. Sampson has been exclusively focused on providing psychotherapy to the long-term care community. He first utilized his expertise and teaching experience to develop and lead a team of highly trained Psychologists and LCSWs and then to develop a training and education program for all team members at Eventus.

Dr. Sampson has a passion for helping clinicians and staff, both at Eventus and in the long-term care communities Eventus serves, to develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide excellent care. Providing results-driven care to the most vulnerable adults has been the most rewarding professional experience of his career.

Dr. Sampson earned his undergraduate degree from Hendrix College in Conway, AR and his master’s and PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. An active volunteer, he resides in Durham, NC with his wife and enjoys gardening, running, cooking, and visits with their son.

Tom Wirostek has more than twenty years of leadership experience in the national and international healthcare industry. Mr. Wirostek was most recently the SVP and General Manager for the DebMed division of SC Johnson & Son. In his role, Mr. Wirostek and his team worked with numerous acute care hospitals in the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East to reduce hospital acquired infections (HAIs) by implementing a system of electronic hand hygiene compliance monitoring and healthcare staff preferred hand hygiene products. Through his work, measurable positive outcomes were achieved, and multiple scientific posters and peer-reviewed studies were produced. Prior to his role with DebMed, Mr. Wirostek held senior leadership roles in sales, marketing, and general management in a number of newly established healthcare divisions of large multi-billion dollar organizations, as well as smaller organizations that aspired to grow sales and profits fast.

As a result of his engagement with hospital administration and healthcare professionals, Mr. Wirostek developed a passion for improving patient care and outcomes in all facets of the healthcare industry and, most notably, long-term care. He is committed to applying his strategic development experience and leadership to quickly increase the number of long-term care facilities that can benefit from truly integrated, multidisciplinary physician care.

Mr. Wirostek earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University and his MBA from Xavier University. He has conducted numerous training programs with healthcare teams and completed many presentations about accurate measurement, data sharing, and staff engagement as a means to achieve improvement.
