Who We Are

Dr. Rucci is a nationally recognized Psychiatrist who specializes in the study, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders in the geriatric population. Dr. Rucci has built a foundation of knowledge from large hospital systems, community mental health, emergency services, and academic settings.

In 2010 she found her passion in the underserved long-term care population who had little access to quality mental health services. In order to expand access, she developed a program to advance the future of psychiatric services in this population through a team of highly trained specialist providers. She then worked toward integrating these mental health services with high quality on site primary care services and other medical specialties, creating the first of its kind integrated healthcare model in the long term care population. Dr. Rucci and her expansive team are dedicated to producing measurable outcomes only achieved through the implementation of a truly integrated patient care system.

Dr. Rucci earned her undergraduate degree from the College of New Jersey and then went on to study medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School where she earned her M.D. Her internship and residency were completed at the University of Colorado, where she focused on geriatric interests and served as chief resident. As part of her dedication to educating and training new care providers, Dr. Rucci is Associate Clinical Faculty and educator for Garner–Webb University, University of North Carolina, and Campbell University. She has authored works on dementia in gold standard textbooks used to educate the next generation of psychiatrists.

Dr. Sampson has a background in teaching, research, and clinical practice at The University of North Carolina, the Durham VA Medical Center, Duke University Medical Center, and private practice. He has interests in anxiety, trauma, sleep, relationship distress, and geriatrics.

After training and working in the multidisciplinary environment of the VA, Dr. Sampson spent 13 years teaching undergraduates at UNC and doing clinical work in private practice. Since November 2012 Dr. Sampson has been exclusively focused on providing psychotherapy to the long-term care community. He first utilized his expertise and teaching experience to develop and lead a team of highly trained Psychologists and LCSWs and then to develop a training and education program for all team members at Eventus.

Dr. Sampson has a passion for helping clinicians and staff, both at Eventus and in the long-term care communities Eventus serves, to develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide excellent care. Providing results-driven care to the most vulnerable adults has been the most rewarding professional experience of his career.

Dr. Sampson earned his undergraduate degree from Hendrix College in Conway, AR and his master’s and PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. An active volunteer, he resides in Durham, NC with his wife and enjoys gardening, running, cooking, and visits with their son.

Dan Frascella joined Eventus as Chief Financial Officer in 2025 and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina. He brings to the role a strong entrepreneurial mindset and deep expertise in building and leading complex financial operations, including actuarial teams.

Throughout his career, Dan has focused on scaling organizations that serve vulnerable populations under value-based care models. Most recently, he was Co-Founder, Chief of Staff, and CFO of WellBe Senior Medical, a risk-bearing provider of home-based medical care serving over 150,000 Medicare Advantage members nationwide. He also served as CFO for a venture-backed company delivering AI-powered, community-based care to rising-risk Medicaid beneficiaries.

Earlier in his career, Dan held roles in healthcare investment banking and private equity, giving him a strong foundation in strategic finance and growth execution.

Dan holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics and International Studies, cum laude, from Yale University.

As Chief Operating Officer at Eventus WholeHealth, Cary leads the company’s comprehensive operational strategy in support of its mission to transform long-term care through outcomes-centered healthcare. She is responsible for building scalable care delivery models that emphasize clinical excellence, operational rigor, and responsible resource management.

Prior to joining Eventus, Cary served as Senior Vice President at Humana and Chief Operating Officer of CenterWell Home Health (CWHH), the nation’s largest provider of skilled home health services. Under her leadership, CWHH returned to profitable growth, achieved industry-leading quality outcomes, and launched the first value-based home health care model.

Previously, Cary led Medical Trend management for Humana’s Medicare business. She also oversaw Humana’s Clinical Strategy & Analytics organization and Care Management organizations during her seven-year tenure.

Cary began her healthcare leadership journey at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). In a truly unique beginning to her professional life, Cary worked as a murder investigator on Death Row before transitioning into healthcare.

She holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA from Brown University. Cary lives north of Chicago with her husband and three children.

Jeff Wells is the Chief Compliance and Risk Officer at Eventus WholeHealth. Jeff leads the Eventus Compliance Department and is responsible for overseeing the compliance program and risk management function. Jeff also serves as the Eventus Privacy Officer. Jeff assists the Eventus leadership team, healthcare providers, and support staff to ensure the company maintains its robust culture of compliance.

Prior to joining Eventus, Jeff served as the Chief Compliance Officer for two different large outpatient rehabilitation companies and was responsible for leading the development, implementation, guidance, and administration of the compliance and privacy functions at those companies.

Jeff earned his BA from Fairfield University and his law degree from Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where he graduated magna cum laude.  Jeff is also certified in healthcare compliance through the Health Care Compliance Association and is a certified officer of healthcare compliance through the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance.

Brooke Ritchie is the Senior Vice President of Business Develop at Eventus. She is a dynamic sales and operational leader with over 27 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Brooke is known for driving remarkable growth and success in national and regional post-acute care companies. Her journey embodies a passion for excellence in sales leadership alongside a commitment to compassionate nursing.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Brooke finds joy in family, the solace of a good book, and the adventures of travel, balancing her roles as a devoted mother and an avid explorer.

As a proven sales and operational leader, Brooke strategically steers companies toward unparalleled success. Her methodical and innovative approach has shaped person-centered, customer-centric solutions that not only drive growth but also elevate standards within the industry.

Carey DeMatteis is a seasoned healthcare analytics executive with over 25 years of experience driving performance improvement and value creation across high-growth healthcare organizations. As Senior Vice President of Analytics at Eventus, he leads enterprise-wide data strategy, supporting operational, clinical, and financial decision-making that advances the company’s mission and impact.

Prior to joining Eventus, Carey served as Vice President of Analytics at Privia Health, where he was instrumental in building and scaling the organization’s analytics infrastructure. His leadership contributed directly to Privia’s successful IPO and its expansion into value-based care revenue models. Earlier in his career, he played a pivotal role in the early growth of Evolent Health, helping the company develop strategic partnerships with health systems committed to transforming care delivery through value-based initiatives—efforts that also contributed to Evolent’s public offering.

A strong advocate for the quadruple aim of healthcare—enhancing patient experience, improving population health, reducing costs, and supporting clinician well-being—Carey combines deep technical expertise with a passion for meaningful healthcare transformation.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Cornell University and a Master’s in Healthcare Financial Management from New York University. Carey is also actively involved in nonprofit work supporting children with special needs and lives in Colorado with his wife and two sons.
