Eventus Board Members

Dr. King founded Onsite Care NC, now Eventus WholeHealth, in December 2014 to address the healthcare needs of the underserved community of long-term care patients and residents. Since the founding, Dr. King has led the company to become a market leader in providing multidisciplinary physician services to the long-term care community by delivering the only system of truly integrated care.  In his board member role, Dr. King is the chairman of the M&A committee.

Since his graduation from the UNC MAHEC Residency Program in 1999, Dr. King has balanced his professional career between family medicine and business. From 1999 to 2007, Dr. King was Founder, President, and CEO of Laurel Park Medical Center, where his passion for wellness, prevention, and love of a multidisciplinary approach to patient care was fully expressed. During this time Dr. King also played an integral role in the development, acquisition, and sales of the Laurel Park Medical Center, owned and operated by Park Ridge Hospital. Dr. King has also worked with three large Department of Defense Contractors as a Medical Consultant, and from 2011 to 2013 he was acting CEO and Managing Partner of MPN, a medical group consisting of nine physicians and several PHDs.

Dr. King received his undergraduate degree in accounting and then completed his pre-med studies at George Mason University. He earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine, with a specialty in Family Practice, from KCOM.

Brandon Einstein, M.D., is a Partner at Enhanced Healthcare Partners. Before joining Enhanced, Dr. Einstein became a physician and then transitioned to the business side of healthcare as an entrepreneur, where he founded two companies, one in healthcare and one in e-commerce. Brandon also spent time as an associate in the Healthcare Investment Banking Group at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he focused on M&A as well as equity and debt financing transactions for healthcare clients. Dr. Einstein received a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from Yale University. He received an M.D. from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School. In addition to Eventus WholeHealth, he currently sits on the boards of directors of Howard J. Chudler & Associates and NeuroPsychiatric Hospitals.

Mathew Thompson is a General Partner at Enhanced Healthcare Partners (EHP). He has spent over 15 years in healthcare M&A and focuses on sourcing, evaluating, executing, and managing investments for EHP.  Prior to Enhanced, Mr. Thompson held leadership positions at Riverside Partners and CVS Health.  He was also a consultant at Monitor Group where he managed growth-oriented and M&A projects in a variety of sectors. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University.

In addition to Eventus WholeHealth, Mr. Thompson has served on the boards of seven other healthcare companies that have a strong track record of growth, innovation and performance – Management Health Solutions, SCA Pharmaceuticals, Aphena Pharma Solutions, Glenridge Healthcare Solutions, West Dermatology, Pharmaceutical Associates, and Hallmark Healthcare.

The son of Yugoslavian immigrants, Rick brings more than twenty years of president and CEO level leadership experience operating within venture, private equity, public (IPO), and public service (cabinet level government) environments. Rick’s leadership efforts are now solely focused on healthcare services to vulnerable populations (elderly, I/DD, mental health, and at-risk youth).

Previously, he led health care service, diagnostic, diabetes, medical device, and technology enabled service businesses ranging from $24 million to $1.2 billion in revenue through a broad variety of complex challenges including turnaround to growth, merger, change in service delivery models, and shift from private company to public company status (IPO).

Recently, Rick led system-wide reform efforts through public service, as North Carolina’s Secretary of Health and Human Services. This was a cabinet-level position for a $20 billion agency with approximately 15,000 employees. The system-level change included Medicaid reform, mental health and substance use system redesign, construction of state-operated psychiatric hospitals, integrating data analytics into program operations, and new program initiatives targeted at improving the population health and work readiness of North Carolina’s 10 million citizens.

Rick earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Alan Kronhaus, M.D. co- founded Doctors Making House Calls (DMHC) with his wife, Shohreh Taavoni, M.D. in 2002.  Purpose-built to improve access to care for frail, elderly, complex patients, DMHC grew into a centrally managed, “geographically dispersed” multispecialty group of 135 clinicians supported by 180 administrative personnel providing services throughout North and South Carolina.  The practice was acquired by Eventus WholeHealth in November 2020, but not before the practice model it pioneered — formally known as home-based primary care – became the preferred method of cost-effectively delivering comprehensive healthcare to complex, high-cost patients living at home or in some form of senior housing.

DMHC was not Dr. Kronhaus’ first entrepreneurial success. As Medical Director of a rural healthcare delivery system, he designed and implemented the healthcare delivery system for Yellowstone National Park and helped establish and operate a managed system of 30 primary care practices in underserved rural communities throughout the intermountain west.

Before DMHC, however, Kronhaus was best known for creating the country’s first organized nationwide locum tenens service, KRON Medical.  After 13 years as Founder & CEO, he sold KRON Medical to CompHealth, its main competitor in temporary physician services.  The combined organization spearheaded an industry now estimated to be over $7 billion annually, and in the process established locum tenens as a new job role which currently attracts roughly 50,000 clinicians each year.

Dr. Kronhaus graduated AOA from Boston University’s Six-Year Medical Program and did an internal medicine residency at the University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals in Salt Lake City.  After residency, he worked for five years as a primary care clinician in underserved rural areas of the mountain west, and then medical director of Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI), the country’s largest rural health care delivery system at that time, before being recruited back to academia as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  As a Clinical Scholar, Dr. Kronhaus studied the organization, delivery, and financing of health services, with an emphasis on innovative strategies for improving access to care for underserved populations.

In addition to leading DMHC, Kronhaus has published extensively in peer-reviewed academic journals over the past decade and presented to a variety of audiences on how to improve quality and reduce costs for complex, high-cost patients.

Jean Rush is an enterprising CEO and Director with extensive experience in dramatically increasing business, profit, and market share growth for several companies within multi-billion dollar corporations.  She has successfully transformed corporate visions into lucrative and workable solutions, designing and delivering high impact strategic plans and turning around operationally or financially challenged organizations. Ms. Rush’s expertise encompasses government, commercial, and international healthcare. She was recently the Executive Vice President of Government Markets at Highmark where she had P&L responsibility for Highmark’s $7 billion highly regulated government businesses, including Medicare, Medicaid, individual, and small group markets.  In this role, Ms. Rush was responsible for the $1 billion financial turnaround of Highmark’s government businesses within a two-year period.

Prior to joining Highmark, Ms. Rush was Senior Vice President of Complex Care for Centene Corporation, with P&L responsibility for the long-term care and Medicare/Duals business across all Centene markets. In this role, she completed an operational turnaround of Centene’s Medicare business, positioning it for future growth, including the successful launch of five Dual Demonstration projects. Prior to this position, Ms. Rush served as Senior Vice President of Health Plan Operations for Centene where she had P&L responsibility for six Medicaid and Medicare health plans across the country.  Ms. Rush has served as the CEO and Plan President of Kentucky Spirit (a start-up health plan), and as the President of CIGNA Government Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of CIGNA, where her company won several large government procurements, launched a joint venture with BCBS of Tennessee, and was awarded the prestigious excellence (Baldrige) award for the state of Tennessee.

Ms. Rush earned her BA from Boston College and her MBA from the University of Connecticut.  She divides her time between Florida and the coast of Maine where she enjoys golfing, sailing, and biking. Ms. Rush currently serves on the Board of Directors for Addus (Nasdaq: ADUS), including both the Audit and Government Relations Committees of the board. She is also on the board for:

• Eventus WholeHealth – where she serves on the audit committee and chairs the compliance committee,
• Women Business Leaders in the U.S. Healthcare Industry – where she serves on the compensation committee,
• Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care – where she serves on the audit committee and chairs the compliance committee, and
• HomeFree Pharmacy Services.

In addition, Ms. Rush is on the Advisory Boards for Aarete and The Hangout Spot.  Previously she served on several corporate boards, including CIGNA Government Services, Capstone Government Solutions, Peach State Health Plan, Bridgeway Health Plan, Buckeye Community Plan, Gateway Health Solutions, Highmark Delaware, and West Virginia Family Health. She has also served on numerous non-profit boards including the Pittsburgh Food Bank, Midwest Easterseals, and Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence.

Since September of 2016, Mr. Snow has been providing strategic and operational services to and investing in early-stage healthcare companies alongside private equity firms. Prior to this, Mr. Snow was President and CEO of TeamHealth, a $5 billion publicly traded company and one of the largest providers of outsourced physician staffing solutions in emergency medicine, hospital medicine, anesthesia, and urgent care for acute care hospitals, as well as post-acute staffing for long term care facilities in the United States.

During his tenure with TeamHealth, Mr. Snow led nearly a 50% increase in revenue and profitability. The company was acquired by Blackstone in 2016. Mr. Snow has held numerous executive-level positions in healthcare including President of HCA, Inc.’s Gulf Coast Division, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of HealthSouth Corporation, President and Chief Executive Officer of Surgical Care Affiliates, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wellmont Health System, and Chief Operating Officer of Amedisys, Inc. Mr. Snow received his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Alabama and an MBA from Troy University. He was conferred and an honorary doctorate from the University of Alabama Business School in 2013 and continues to be active in support of the institution.
